Personally, when I take first-time visitors out I do the following: take the Roosevelt Island Tram from Manhattan to Roosevelt Island (these are the things next to the 59th street bridge that Spider Man saves). Walking the promenade, I’m 87% certain you can walk to Domino Park. Go to the Summit at sunset (an “artsy” observation floor above Grand Central), go to Grand Central and check out the Campbell for a well made cocktail (careful, they are both strong and pricey), catch a Mets or Yankee game (you can find pretty cheap tickets to either and spend most of your time exploring the stadiums), and check out the promenade under the Brooklyn Bridge and that area (there’s a famous carousel there as well as some very famous pizza restaurants).

Flushing (Flushing Main St stop on the 7) is where you'll find some amazing Chinese food (but Manhattan's Chinatown is also great, and much more convenient).įor outdoor spaces, Central Park is popular for a good reason, but you can also check out Prospect Park, Green-Wood Cemetery, and the Little Red Lighthouse under the George Washington Bridge. If you're feeling adventurous, you can visit Jackson Heights (Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Ave stop on the E, F, 7 or R trains) for some of the best Indian, SEA, Mexican and other foods. There's plenty of good food in NYC, avoid the chain restaurants and big Times Square establishments ( sorry OG) and you'll find good stuff. Chelsea galleries can be a lot of fun, too. For example, most tourists go to the Met museum or the MoMA, but you could instead go to the Frick or PS1. There are a lot of lesser-visited alternatives that are quite good. You see fake hidden places on TikTok ( "a store with a secret bar in the back!") but these are mostly gimmicks designed for social.
